Once more in Wanaka

So it is probably no surprise to anyone who has read previous blog posts that we decided to return to Wanaka today.  As nice as it would have been to spend some time cycling on the Otago Rail Trail we just couldn’t turn down the opportunity of going back to Wanaka.  To put it in perspective we enjoyed Wanaka so much the last time that Mrs M has already been on the phone to the motorcamp to see if we can get our old pitch back…

On the way out of Cromwell we stop at the giant fruit salad (promoting Cromwell as the soft fruit capital of NZ) for a quick picture,

and then make the short drive to Wanaka arriving around lunchtime.  After a little bit of shopping we head straight down to the side of the lake and get Betty setup for a picnic in the sun.

After a few hours sitting in the sun enjoying our picnic and the fabulous view of Mt Aspiring national park we take the obvious course of action and walk into town to buy some ice-cream.

Soon it’s time for us to go and get checked into the motorcamp and then head off back into town as we are off out to Cinema Paradiso again tonight.  We have a good chat with the friendly Scottish and Welsh staff at the cinema (who are surprised to see us again) and tell them that we have changed our plans just to be able to have dinner on our laps in the cinema again.

Once back in Betty, after a lovely dinner and very good film we both agree that it is great to be back in Wanaka.  Leaving tomorrow is going to be difficult.
