In the Bluff

After a good nights sleep at the Lodge we are all set for more exploring this morning and head out to walk to the Acker Point lighthouse. Another good walk through the rainforest seeing lots of wildlife and then some great views from the lighthouse when we get there.
Harold Bay on the way to Ackers Point

Got to be vigilant for ground burrowing birds

We spend some time at the museum before a nice lunch and then a final walk around Oban before it is time to board the ferry back to the mainland.  This time the ferry crossing is much calmer than going out and even Mrs M agrees!

We return safely to the mainland and collect Betty from the car park - relieved to see she is safe and sound, before heading to Sterling Point at
Bluff which is the southern most point in the South Island.  We get the obligatory photo of the signpost showing it is over 18,000km back to London and go to see the chain sculpture which links Stewart Island with the South Island.

We head back to the same friendly Invercargill Top 10 site to spend the night, after really enjoying our expedition to Stewart Island!
