A Barli Birthday!

Today at Fort Barli was Mr. M's 34th Birthday.  We are surprised to discover a birthday cake with candles and birthday music playing as we head down to have breakfast in the fort and a present of an elephant mobile from the owners - elephants are auspicious in India for prosperity and good luck - which hopefully bodes well for our travels!

Like for many people back home today is a school day!  So after breakfast we walk through Barli Village to the local primary school which we are visiting this morning.  We are invited in and welcomed and then much to Mr. M's huge surprise all 200 of the school children start to sing "Happy Birthday" - they have obviously been practicing and it was very touching!  We watch some of the lessons and meet six of the children (aged between 6 and 11) who tell us in their best practiced English their names, age and where they live and then it was our turn to do the same.  They were all so enthusiastic about being at school and we both really enjoyed the morning there.

Barli Primary School children celebrate Mr M's Birthday!

As if the day couldn't hold any more surprises we are then dressed up in Indian wedding attire - not quite sure how next years birthday will be beaten!

More dressing up!

Birthday Thali Tea!
