It’s another glorious sunny day in
Sydney and we decide to take the ferry across to Manly this morning.
Sunrise on the Opera House from our room |
On our way to catch the ferry from
Circular Quay we see a huge cruise ship has come in overnight and are surprised
to see that it is the Oosterdam which was one of the big cruise ships we saw in
Akaroa a few days ago. It looked big in
Akaroa but up close it is huge.
A very big boat indeed |
The ferry to Manly is only half an
hour and soon we are heading through the streets towards the beach. As the weather is so nice (and the beach is
pretty empty) we decide to go for one last paddle, before heading to more wintery climates later this week.
A deserted Manly Beach |
As we are having lunch in a café we
notice all the Christmas decorations are up which feels quite odd as we are in
shorts and t-shirts and have just had a paddle on the beach.
Manly Christmas tree |
On the return ferry the wind has
picked up a bit and there is some fairly serious yacht racing going on in the
harbour which is fun to watch as they speed past us.
AUS40 leading the race |
We then chill out in the B&B for
the rest of the afternoon before heading out on the ferry again, this time to
Darling Harbour for dinner. On the ferry
home we have some fabulous views of the city lit up at night.
