A big driving day ahead today as we make our way from Waipu to Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula.
On leaving Waipu we are not surprised to spot some hairy Highland coos in the field opposite the campsite. It really has been like being in Scotland here in Waipu.
We continue south from Waipu and make our way to Leigh and the Goat Island Marine Reserve. Here we hop on the glass bottom boat trip for an hour round the Island to see some of the huge variety of different marine life.
Unfortunately the bad weather from day day before meant there wasn't too much marine life to be seen but we did see lots of snapper, red moki and eagle rays.
It was soon time to move on however as we had to through Auckland (and pick up a book from Kelvin & Pauline's) and make our onto the Coromandel.
We manage to get through Auckland before rush hour and make our way round the Firth of Thames to the town of Thames where we are camping for the night.
