After one of the best breakfasts of
the trip so far we head out for more of Catherine and Julia’s HK tips. This morning it is the turn of the Peak Tram,
which isn’t actually a tram but a funicular railway up the highest peak of Hong
Kong Island. So once more onto the Star
Ferry (you can tell we like the Star Ferry) and onto Hong Kong Island we walk
past some of the big banking buildings and up to the Peak Tram.

The ride in the Peak Tram was really
steep in places and felt like we were right in the middle of all the
skyscrapers, and at the top we are lucky to have a clear day and are blown away
with the amazing view over Hong Kong.

Revived by a nice cup of tea in a
café at the top we then make our way back down on the tram that wasn’t a tram
to catch a tram that actually was a tram over to Soho!

Once in Soho we take the Central-Mid-LevelEscalators (which in places are not escalators) up the steep-ish hill through
the heart of Soho. Stopping off at some
interesting shops and markets along the way we stumble across an organic café
and stop to partake in some fresh juice and cake.

On the way back down we wander
through the Graham Street Market, complete with wet market. This is basically the fish and butcher part
of the market where many things are bought ‘live’ sploshing around in tanks or
dangling from hooks on the ceiling. More
on this in another blog.

A quick change at the hotel and then
we are back out again, firstly to the Temple Street night market and then via
the MTR back to Hong Kong Island for a delicious Vietnamese dinner.
Today we have been on trams that
were not trams, escalators that were not escalators, and at dinner Mr M ordered
the beef hot-pot, although very tasty, was not what a Lancastrian would call a
hot-pot!
