Today is another travelling day
where we head from Sepilok (near Sandakan) on the north east coast of Sabah to
Lankayan Island, a small desert island in the Sulu Sea.
Now after a week or so in the jungle
Mrs M, as the fearless explorer, anticipated we would be chopping down a large
tree and then making our own dug-out canoe so we could paddle to the
island.
Tempting as this was we actually
took a speed boat transfer which was a rather bumpy 90 minute ride at about 28
knots, bashing into and over a rather choppy Sulu Sea. We were rather lucky on our position on the boat
and got to the island quite dry. Other
on the boat were not so lucky…
Lankayan Island is amazing when we
get here. A small coral island of about
¾ of a mile circumference it is home to a turtle sanctuary and a small
dive/snorkelling school, with 20 chalets dotted around on the beach.

The next four days will be rather
relaxing as we take a little break from all the travelling over the past three
weeks and spend some time on the beach.
Mr M
90 minutes at 28 knots, that's heaven !
